Wood carving is something youll need to work on at least twice as your first time out of you first year of college. I would recommend getting a set of wood tools and some woodworking books and an experienced wood carver as soon as you can. Youll be amazed at the variety of woods you can use.
I was surprised to find that the majority of people I asked said they’d prefer to work with their hands. Which is a huge mistake. You need both hands to perform carpentry, and the best woodworking tools for carving are very strong, so you shouldn’t be afraid of using them to perform the actual work. The problem is if you don’t even know what kind of woods you’re going to use.
It sounds like youre not the only one. Most carpentry books and books on woodworking say it takes practice to become a carpenter. In fact, the only real way to learn is to practice. The problem is that no one really teaches you how to make wooden furniture. There are very few books on woodworking. There’s just this one one that everyone turns to. A lot of these people don’t know that it takes practice to master woodworking.
