You will also have to wash the stain from the surface before you can install the new floor. So if you want an easy clean and stain resistant floor, you’ll have to spend the extra money for a high-quality stain.
Some stains actually fade over time. With wood, you can really forget about changing the floor in six months. The trick is to think about it like a stain. The surface of the wood becomes stained over a period of time and that is when wood loses its strength. The way I see it is that wood is more like a paint, but with a much longer shelf life.
