I’m on a mission to figure out why these metal gates are so ubiquitous.

“Gates”? Really? This isn’t the gates of a city, this is some kind of military installation for keeping people out of the city.

Metal gates are a common feature of many of our cities. Some cities, such as New York, have metal walls that keep out crowds. Some cities have gates that just keep people out of the city. In some cases the gates are simply a way for a group of people to escape out of a city, for example a prison or a shelter. The other time, the gate is a tool that is used to control the flow of traffic and keep people out of certain areas.

Wood is a material that is incredibly durable, which is why we can build so many of the cities and many of the buildings in them from wood.
